The beauty of connections

Sitting on the front of the boat, with the wind at my back, gazing over the ocean swells, I see schools of flying fish surfacing the water—gliding through the wind before diving back into the sea.

Sitting on the front of the boat, with the wind at my back, gazing over the ocean swells, I see schools of flying fish surfacing the water—gliding through the wind before diving back into the sea.

Seeing this makes my mind wander to the concept of connectivity. I feel like such a rich girl when I think about this topic. You see, I like to do this thing where I think about all the people I am—or have been—connected to. My parents, my sisters, my stepfather and stepmother. My roommates and friends. My exes from dating or past relationships, my mentors, neighbors, therapists. And every single time, it simply warms my heart.

For those who don’t know me, it’s good to know that I am a visionary and think strongly in images and visuals. So describing a mental image can be challenging, but let me give it a shot.

When I think about connectivity, I envision the person I’m connected to. This person always appears with their softest features, radiating warmth, light, happiness, and calm. It’s almost as if I see them wearing their rawest form of skin, centered around a strong, beating heart. They’re stripped of all layers—ego, success, confidence—leaving only a humble and vulnerable being in the open.

When I visualize that, my heart already starts overflowing with love for that person. And when I then reflect on how similar we all are as human beings—and how the person I’m connected to, just like me, is simply trying to live their life the best they can, filled with joy and love—my heart explodes.

All of these individuals teach me different things in life, and again and again, they show me that everyone’s intentions are pure. We’re all just trying to live our lives as happily as we can.
